Back to winning ways in style. Kampala Queens FC delivered a composed and determined performance to defeat Uganda Martyrs High School WFC 2-0 in the Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League Matchday 16 clash at St. Gerald Ground on a cold, muddy Saturday morning.
The victory sealed a season double for the Queens, having also triumphed in the first-round meeting, and reaffirmed their growing momentum in the title race.
Coming into the game seeking a response after a recent setback, the Queens showed intent from the very start. Despite a delayed kickoff and difficult playing conditions, both sides began with intensity, but it was Kampala Queens who quickly imposed themselves on the game. Their early dominance paid off in the 17th minute.

Peace Muduwa broke the deadlock after latching onto a perfectly weighted through ball from Ariho Rinah. Showing composure and strength, Muduwa beat her marker before unleashing a clinical finish in the top corner beyond goalkeeper Joan Namusisi to give the visitors a deserved lead. The same name made the difference in the Queens’ last visit at St Gerald Ground as the Queens won 1-0.
The Queens continued to push forward, with Rinah nearly doubling the advantage from a corner, only to miss a free header. The physical nature of the contest saw Zaitun Namaganda booked after a challenge on Namusisi, but Kampala Queens maintained control to head into the break with a 1-0 lead.
After the restart, Uganda Martyrs attempted to grow into the game, but Kampala Queens remained organized and composed, managing possession well and limiting threats. Their persistence was rewarded in the 68th minute.
Substitute Joanita Ainembabazi made an instant impact, reacting quickest to a loose clearance from Shakirah Nankwanga. Spotting the goalkeeper off her line, Ainembabazi calmly finished to double the lead and effectively put the game beyond reach. She later came close to adding a third but was denied by Namusisi.
The technical bench made several changes to maintain intensity and game control, with Catherine Wujja replacing Catherine Nagadaya, Daphine Tukamushabe coming on for Muduwa, and Loyce Komugisha taking the place of Namaganda.

At the back, Sharon Kaidu stood tall against her former side, delivering an assured performance and keeping a well-earned clean sheet.
Several other Queens also faced their former team, including Catherine Nagadaya, Esther Namusoke, Patience Nabulobi, and Assistant Coach Shafic Mutebi.
Assistant Coach Shafic Mutebi applauded the team’s response and mentality:
“After the disappointment at home, this is the reaction we’ve been waiting for all week. The players showed real fight from the first minute to the last. We still have six games to go, and we want more results like this without becoming complacent.”
Amangati Marion was named the Finance Trust Bank FUFA Woman of the Match after a commanding display at the heart of defense, playing a crucial role in securing the clean sheet.

The victory keeps the Queens in 3rd position on 31 points, staying within reach of the league leaders as the season enters its decisive phase.
The Queens now turn their attention to their next fixture at home, where they will host She Maroons FC at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo on 28th March 2028.
