It was a difficult morning for the Queens Of Soccer, who fell to a 2–0 home defeat against Amus College WFC earlier today.
In the begining it seemed a different day, may be one that would grant the queens a powerful statement of home victory. The coach had made some changes in the starting eleven- Gloria ‘Zaza’ Namakula had replaced Sharon Kaidu, Captain Shakirah Nankwanga was now in the center back, Teddy Najjuma had been introduced to harmonise the midfeild and Kamiyati Naigaga was back in the starting eleven after a long while.
From Kickoff for about 20 or 25 minutes, the Queens showed intent. Ball flow was on point and made several attempts on goal but they were saved. Later, only for Zabinah Nambozo proving to be the difference-maker, netting once in each half to hand the visitors maximum points. Her opener came in the 35th minute in rather unfortunate fashion for the Queens—what appeared to be a cross caught the goalkeeper, Namakula Gloria off her line and dropped straight into the net. Despite a desperate stretch, the effort couldn’t be kept out.

Kampala Queens responded with urgency, pushing forward in search of an equalizer. Nagadya came close, but her effort drifted wide and more other chances from Ainembabazi, Kamiyati and Jolly’s freekick outside the area, summing up a half where the hosts showed intent but lacked the final touch.
The second half followed a similar script. The Queens maintained pressure and controlled spells of possession, but their inability to convert chances continued to haunt them. Amus, on the other hand, remained clinical. With one of their few forward moves, Nambozo struck again to complete her brace, effectively sealing the result.
By the final whistle, it was a story of missed opportunities for the Queens, who created more chances but failed to capitalize, while the visitors made the most of their limited openings.
Assistant Coach Shafic Mutebi did not hide his disappointment after the match:
“So many things went wrong. We’ve not been good today in several phases of play—both in possession and in transitions, where we lost too many balls. We created chances but didn’t take them. You can’t win games when you don’t convert your opportunities.
When you look at Amus today, they created two chances and scored both. We created more but didn’t manage to score.”
He, however, remains focused on improvement heading into the final stretch of the season:
“There is still room for improvement as we head into the last games. It’s our responsibility as coaches to ensure the team improves, and we’re going to work hard so that we can at least end the season with something in the bag.”
Despite the setback, Kampala Queens FC remain third on the table.
The Queens will return to action after a two-week break, with an away fixture against Lady Doves FC in Masindi scheduled for Saturday, 25th April 2026.
