Kampala Queens FC strengthened its technical bench with the appointment of Shafic Mutebi as the club’s Second Assistant Coach, adding experience and tactical depth to the Queens of Soccer as they continue their push for domestic and regional success.
Mutebi returns to the club for a third stint, bringing with him valuable knowledge of the team’s culture and ambitions. In a sit-down interview with Club media, the coach described the opportunity as both special and motivating at this stage of his career.
“Personally, it feels like coming home. This club is part of my DNA,” Mutebi said. “Professionally, returning for a third time is a huge vote of confidence. It shows the club trusts my understanding of its culture and my ability to help deliver results.”

The experienced tactician joins the technical team at a crucial stage of the season, with the club determined to maintain its strong competitive edge in the Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League.
According to Mutebi, the ambition at the club played a key role in his decision to return.
“The ambition here is the highest in Ugandan football,” he explained. “At this stage of my career, I want to be where the pressure is greatest and the goals are clearest—winning trophies and competing for continental glory.”
As Second Assistant Coach, Mutebi will play a key role in supporting the head coach and ensuring tactical ideas are clearly communicated and implemented by the players on the pitch.
“My primary responsibility is to bridge the gap between the head coach and the players,” he said. “I am here to ensure the players fully understand the coach’s tactical views and instructions while giving him my full support.”

Since linking up with the squad, Mutebi has been impressed by the professionalism and work ethic shown by the players in training.
“The environment is elite. The players have shown incredible discipline and a positive attitude,” he noted. “Despite the pressure of defending the title, there is a supportive atmosphere that allows players to grow and improve.”
Mutebi’s coaching philosophy is built on free-flowing, possession-based football with an emphasis on adaptability—an approach he believes aligns perfectly with the identity of Kampala Queens FC.
“My philosophy is built on free-flowing football, possession and adaptability. That fits perfectly with the identity of this club—we want to play dominant football with flair and authority.”

With the season entering a decisive stage, Mutebi believes the team still has a strong chance to achieve its objectives if they approach every match with the right mentality.
“The chase is on. We still have a strong chance to defend the title, but it requires a cup-final mentality,” he said. “We must focus on winning every remaining game because that is the only thing we can control.”
Mutebi also emphasized the importance of continuing to contribute to the growth of women’s football in Uganda while helping players reach higher levels, including the national team.
By developing top players at club level, he believes the wider women’s game—including the Uganda women’s national football team—will continue to benefit.

Looking ahead, the coach hopes to help the club maintain its dominance in Uganda while pushing for greater success across the region.
“My goal is to help the club achieve its dream of dominating the CECAFA region while maintaining our status as the number one club in Uganda,” he said.
Mutebi concluded with a rallying call to the Kampala Queens supporters as the team enters a crucial period of the season.
“We promise to fight until the end. Your support has been tremendous, and in this crucial title race we need you more than ever. Your energy from the stands will help push us across the finish line.”
