The journey continues for the Queens of Soccer as they travel to Soroti this Saturday to face Olila High School WFC in the Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League.
After opening the second round with two home fixtures, the Queens now take their campaign on the road for the first time in this phase of the season. The team arrived in Soroti on Thursday night and completed their final preparations with a training session at Soroti City Stadium on Friday morning. All 22 players in the travelling squad are available for selection and in good condition ahead of what promises to be another important league encounter.

Saturday’s fixture carries a special narrative for one player in particular — Marrion Amangat. When the Queens last visited Soroti, the match ended in a goalless draw — the only stalemate in the seven meetings between the two sides. Before that result, Kampala Queens had won all six previous encounters, both home and away. On that afternoon, Amangat was a commanding figure in Olila’s defence, wearing the captain’s armband and leading her side with authority.
Now, the story has taken a different turn. The rock-solid defender returns to Soroti wearing the turquoise blue of Kampala Queens FC, facing the very teammates she once led at a ground that has long been part of her football journey.

Speaking after the team’s final training session, Amangat admitted the emotions of returning home but made it clear that her focus remains on delivering victory for the Queens.
I’m so excited because I’ve come back home, but it’s not going to be the way it has been. I’m in a different team and I thank God. I faced my ex-team in Kampala and it yielded us good results. I know it’s not going to be easy because that team is always physical. Whenever they face Kampala Queens they are mentally ready, but we are more than ready. I believe tomorrow we are going to emerge victorious with a good margin of goals.
I no longer play for Olila, though Olila is home. I love them so much. I call upon my fans, please come and cheer. Tomorrow is the day and I believe I’ll deliver my best for the fans.
Before this upcoming encounter, the Queens produced a historic 8-0 victory against Asubo Ladies FC last weekend, the biggest win margin in league history. Amangat played her part in that performance, scoring one goal and involve in another.

Assistant coach Sharon Kizza believes the team has prepared well for the challenge ahead, noting that conditions this time are far more favorable than during last season’s visit.
When you look at the weather here, it is kind of friendly this time around compared to the other time when we were here.
Despite Olila’s difficult position in the league standings, Kizza insists the Queens are approaching the match with full respect for the opposition.
Coming into this game, we are determined to score goals and most importantly get the three points. We know Olila are very aggressive in their style of play, but with the analysis we have made about them, we believe we shall be able to manage the game well and win it.
In the second round so far, Kampala Queens have recorded one win and one draw, while Olila have drawn once and lost once.

Kampala Queens FC currently sit third on the league table with 25 points and a goal difference of +20, as they continue to chase the teams above them in the title race. Olila High School WFC, meanwhile, find themselves bottom of the table with 3 points and a goal difference of -20, but matches between the two sides have always been fiercely contested.
