After Action: Kampala Queens FC 8-0 Asubo Ladies FC

After a frustrating home draw in the previous fixture, Kampala Queens FC delivered a ruthless and historic performance, dismantling Asubo Ladies FC 8-0 in a statement victory. The result not only restored confidence but also set a new benchmark — the biggest winning margin in the history of the FUFA Women Super League.

It was the perfect response.

From the first whistle to the last, the Queens were relentless, clinical and united in purpose.

The tone was set early. Only nine minutes into the game, the breakthrough arrived. On her full debut, youngster Loyce Komugisha announced herself in style having made her first appearance off the bench in the previous match. Meeting a precise delivery from Wujja, Loyce controlled beautifully on the turn before calmly placing her effort into the far left beyond the goalkeeper. It was her first goal for the club — and what a moment to mark it.

In the 20th minute the provider turned architect again. Wujja’s long ball found Zaitun Namaganda in stride. Her initial first-time strike was blocked, but she reacted quickest, regained possession and finished confidently with her left foot into an empty net.

The pressure continued to suffocate Asubo. After Nagadya caused havoc down the right, the loose clearance fell kindly for Wujja. With quick feet, she delivered a delightful cross to Ainembabazi, who intelligently laid it off first time for Namaganda to thunder into the roof of the net. 3-0 inside 25 minutes.

In the 32nd minute, defender Marrion Amangat added her name to the scoresheet. After Ainembabazi’s thunderous free kick from the edge of the area was parried, Marrion reacted fastest to tap in the rebound. No extravagant celebration — just composed high-fives before jogging back to marshal her defense. She would later cap off a commanding display by being named Woman of the Match.

Four minutes later, Marrion was involved again, launching a long ball from deep. Ainembabazi cushioned it perfectly into Nagadya’s path. With the goalkeeper off her line, Nagadya executed a clever, looping finish that sailed into the back of the net. 5-0.

Even with halftime approaching, the Queens were not satisfied.

Deep into added time, after Nagadya was fouled near the edge of the area, Jolly stood over the free kick. Instead of going direct, she rolled a smart pass on the ground to Patience Nabulobi, who finished with a crisp one-touch effort. The Queens went into the break six goals to the good.

After the break, nothing changed. The intensity remained high. Five minutes into the second half, Nagadya dazzled on the left, beating two of her markers before unleashing a fierce shot that was saved. However, the rebound caused chaos, and under pressure, an Asubo defender inadvertently turned the ball into her own net.

With the result firmly in control, the technical bench made a triple change. Loyce made way for Miriam, Namaganda was replaced by Rinah, and Ainembabazi gave way to Namulondo. Shortly after, Kamiyati came on for Wujja.

The substitutes maintained the intensity and the final was a goal crafted by fresh legs in 85th minute. Miriam battled to win possession from an opponent’s goal kick. The second ball fell to Namulondo, who threaded it to Rinah. Showing composure, she controlled, turned, assessed the goalkeeper’s position and calmly slotted a low shot into the far side.

It was Rinah’s first goal at her new home — and she could not hide her joy.

“Obviously, I’m very happy for having been given a chance to go to the pitch. And I’m very grateful that I’ve also been part of the members that have scored for the Kampala Queens FC. I thank my teammates for the cooperation and the coach for the chance.”

Assistant Coach Sharon Kizza emphasized the team’s focus after the previous draw:

“In the previous game we played, you all knew that we drew, so coming into this game we focused more on the final third whereby we thought of scoring more goals, which is what we did tactically and the players really managed to do that.”

She highlighted the deliberate emphasis on collective scoring responsibility:

“In the previous sessions that we’ve been having, we’ve been focussing more on the final third and we’ve been involving each and every player to score — the defenders, the midfielders and also the attackers. So defenders coming into the final third to score, for us it is credit. It shows that really what we’ve been putting in for the entire week, they comprehended it and that is why they came and showcased it in this game.”

On the young players stepping up, Sharon added:

“Yeah, we trust young players. We believe each and every player has a chance to come and play, so we gave them a chance and really they didn’t put us down. They performed to our expectation and we are hoping to continue giving them more chances.”

Next up, Kampala Queens FC travel to Soroti to face Olila High School WFC on Saturday, 7th March 2026, aiming to carry this momentum forward.
