PREMATCH: Kampala Queens FC vs Asubo Ladies FC

Kampala Queens FC return to league action tomorrow, 28th February 2026, with a home fixture against Asubo Ladies FC in their second match of the second round of the Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League.

The Queens step into this encounter with clear intentions — to close the month strongly and to deliver a firm response following the frustrating 2-2 draw against Rines SS WFC in the second round opener. It was a match defined by dominance in phases, fluid build-up play and numerous goal-scoring opportunities, yet the outcome did not reflect the overall control displayed for long spells.

With the league entering a decisive stretch, every detail now matters. Margins are tightening, and consistency will separate contenders from the rest. The first-round meeting between the two sides at Quality Grounds — home of Asubo Ladies FC — ended in a 2-2 draw. It was a competitive, high-intensity contest that tested Kampala Queens’ resilience away from home.

Kamiyati was on the scoresheet that afternoon, continuing her strong attacking form, while the second goal came from an own goal forced by sustained pressure by Catherine Nagadya in the final third. Despite pushing for a winner, the Queens had to settle for a point. Now fully recovered after missing several games through injury, Kamiyati believes the focus is sharper this time.

“I missed some games due to injury but I am back now. Being among the top scorers is not easy. It is about hard work, determination and believing in God.”

Earlier in the season, she openly spoke about targeting the Golden Boot. Asked whether that ambition remains alive, she did not hesitate:

“Yes, the Golden Boot is among my targets. It’s something I am working for. My personal objective in tomorrow’s game is to score again, if God wishes.”

In the last five meetings between the two teams, Kampala Queens remain unbeaten — three wins and two draws. It is a record that offers belief, but the technical bench insists that history will not win tomorrow’s match.

Assistant Coach Sharon Kizza emphasized the need for focus and proper game management.

“In the previous game we played, we led in the first half, but in the second half the game changed and we had to fight hard to come back. Going into this Asubo game, we are really prepared. The ladies are in good shape and ready to get the three points, to play good football with attitude and teamwork.”

The 2-2 draw against Rines SS WFC exposed areas that required immediate correction. Defensive transitions, concentration levels, and especially chance conversion have been key points of emphasis in training this week.

Sharon highlighted the tactical adjustments made ahead of the Asubo clash:

“Coming into this game, we have adjusted our tactics to see how best we can score more goals. In the previous match, we created so many chances but did not capitalize on them. We believe the chances will come again, and this time we must convert them.”

All players are available for selection, giving the technical team depth as they prepare for this important fixture.
