New Signings: Komugisha and Ariho Unveiled as First Reinforcements Ahead of Second Round

The Palace has welcomed new energy. Young, fearless, and full of promise. Preparations are fetching momentum for the second round of the Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League and it’s at this time that the Queens of Soccer officially unveiled midfielder Loyce Komugisha and forward Rinah Ariho as the first additions to the squad. The duo joins on two-year deals from Boni Consilii Girls Vocational School, signaling a clear commitment to youth development and long-term squad growth.

Loyce Komugisha, 17 years old, arrives as a refined young midfielder shaped through the competitive school football system at Boni Consilii Girls School — one of the notable forces in USSSA girls’ competitions. Her rise has been defined by decisive performances in zonal and national championships, including a standout free kick that helped secure the USSSA Ankole Zone girls’ football title.

Technically gifted and confident on both feet, Komugisha plays with a rare blend of elegance and control. Whether receiving under pressure, driving forward, or striking from distance, she maintains the same rhythm, power and precision. Her ability to operate comfortably with either foot gives her a natural fluency in midfield play and creative transitions.

Her consistent performances have earned her recognition at national level. Komugisha has regularly been listed in Uganda U-17 squads and featured as a creative presence during several USSSA competitions, playing an integral role in Boni Consilii’s strong record in national girls’ championships. She was part of the Teen Cranes squads for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers and appeared on match lists during qualification fixtures against Kenya and Namibia.

Speaking in her first interview with the club media, Komugisha expressed gratitude and readiness for the challenge ahead:

“I am truly honored to join Kampala Queens. This is a big opportunity for me to grow, learn, and contribute to the team. I am ready to work hard, respect the club’s values, and give my best for the badge.”

Alongside her, Rinah Ariho joins the Palace as an exciting attacking prospect bringing pace, directness and a natural eye for goal.

A 16-year-old right-footed forward who began playing football at a young age, inspired by her brother and local community games, Rinah’s journey has been shaped by passion and determination. Her steady rise through youth football has seen her develop into one of Uganda’s most promising young attacking talents.

Like Komugisha, Ariho has been part of the Teen Cranes squads during the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers. She notably scored in the qualifiers against Namibia at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo in the 8-1 win.

For Rinah, the move to the Palace carries deep personal meaning:

“Joining Kampala Queens is a dream come true for me. I am grateful for this chance and I promise to give everything for the team. Whenever I step onto the pitch, I will work hard, stay disciplined, and do my best to help the team succeed.”

Head Coach Asefa Firew Hailegebreal has warmly welcomed the duo, describing their arrival as a strategic investment in the club’s present and future. He emphasized the importance of blending youthful talent with an already established and experienced squad structure.

“Young players are the future of the game, and working with them is always rewarding. Loyce and Rinah are talented, technically sound, and eager to learn. Integrating them into a team with experienced players who already understand our philosophy will accelerate their development and prepare them for higher levels of competition.”

The addition of Komugisha and Ariho provides a youthful yet technically promising boost to the squad as the Queens of Soccer gear up for a competitive second round campaign. Their arrival aligns with the technical team’s broader plan to reinforce key areas while maintaining the club’s long-term vision.

Komugisha Loyce will wear jersey number 10, while Ariho Rinah will don number 5.

The Queens of Soccer open the second round race at home this Sunday 22nd February 2026 as they host Rines SS WFC.
