Kampala Queens FC are officially the 2024/2025 Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League Champions — with one match still left to play.
The new league trophy must already feel the beckon at home after spending the past week making rounds with some of Uganda’s most influential women including the Speaker of Parliament Hon Anita Annet Among and Her Merjesty the Queen Of Buganda Kingdom Sylvia Naginda. But now, its true royal palace has been found.
A hard-fought goalless draw away to FC Tooro Queens in Fort Portal on matchday 21 ( Saturday 24th May 2025) was enough to seal the crown. That point brought the confirmation — the trophy is coming to the Palace for the second time.
From the first whistle, the Queens were on top. Zainah Nandede and Kamiyati Naigaga created early chances but were denied by brilliant goalkeeping. Still, the moment of the game came from Gloria Namakula, who pulled off a spectacular superman save from a freekick to keep the sheet clean.
Assistant Coach Sharon Kizza summed it up perfectly:
“I appreciate the ladies. They have worked so hard since day one. I thank our management for their commitment and our fans for standing with us. Today, all that hard work pays off. We are champions.”
And the 12th player made sure to be part of the story, never wanted to celebrate from a distance and refused to wait for the news online. They traveled the long distance to Fort Portal, sang and cheered from the through the game duration, before storming the pitch at full-time with vuvuzelas and chants of one word only: “Champions!”

Despite the players’ tough 90 minutes, they had no time for tiredness. They lifted their Ethiopian tactician Firew Hailegebreal high in the air, before carrying their captains Shamirah Nalugya, Zainah Nandede, and Jamirah Nabulime in pure joy.
For Tooro Queens fans, it was heartbreak. They quietly walked away in small groups, while the Palace danced on their ground.
The Queens will play their last game of the season on Tuesday 3rd June 2025, hosting She Maroons FC at 3pm with the official crowning on the same day after the match.
